Robert Gendler is a physician
living in Connecticut . His interest in astronomy dates back
to his childhood in New York where he made frequent visits to
the famous Hayden Planetarium.
He started in astronomy by taking
an introductory course at a local college. He purchased a pair
of binoculars and spent the next year and a half learning the
night sky. He then purchased a 10 inch Dobsonian. And in 1996,
he bought a 10 inch Schmidt Cassegrain and a CCD camera, which
gave him his start in astroimaging. His most current telescope
is a 12.5 inch Ritchey-Chretien cassegrain.
Gendler admits that he was inspired
by the great professional astrophotographer David Malin and by
the early black and white images taken with the 200 inch telescope
at Mount Palomar.
